The whole process was fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants, impersonal and, at the end, managed so badly that the interview process should serve as a big red flag to potential employees of what this company would be like as something that could lay claim to the majority of your time. I applied online, and received a phone screen from a recruiter that was so stilted, scripted and uninformed about the position that it felt like she had just graduated high school. I then had a face-to-face interview scheduled that was one hour long, with three people. This is a new company with a new citizen-science based mission, with new content and a new website to manage. They didn't have a clear idea of what this position would really entail, what the inherent challenges or opportunities were, or the best way forward in terms of content development, strategy or audience engagement. I found the interviewers brusque, self-important and unfriendly.
There was zero follow-up from the time of the interview to the time Four Months Later when I received a generic form rejection, one that did not even acknowledge that I was one of the final candidates who interviewed in person with the company. Whee.
