      Manager Interview

      Jun 30, 2020
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Warwick, North West England, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at National Grid (Warwick, North West England, England) in Feb 2020

      Interview

Recruiter made contact. After a brief chat recruiter arranged a phone interview with hiring manager and then almost a full day onsite assessment/interviews. Interviews tested fitness against national grid values and job based behavioural and technical competencies. My assessment of recruiter and interviewers was that they do not fit National Grid values at all as they did not do the right thing and whatever they did, they did it in the worst possible way. You will know what I mean if you know their values. They made me put in many hours of my time in the process and after repeated follow-ups they never got back to me with any feedback/reply whatsoever. I understand everybody who gets an interview doesn't get the job but if you have interviewed someone multiple times, at least have the courtesy to send a rejection email. No reply after interviews is simply unacceptable and unprofessional behaviour. I held National Grid in a very high regard, and that's why I went along when recruited approached me, but not anymore.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

A fair bit of time was spent on diversity and inclusion. Felt like as if they have been forced to ask/assess this but it didn't seem interviewers had any understanding or interest in diversity as a value or requirement for the role.

      Interview

Very smooth. 2 round interview, 1 was a screening phone call, which was more general. Second was in person with the hiring manager and HR, with a mix of role related and EQ questions
