I applied through college or university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at National Grid (New York, NY) in Apr 2012
Interview
Face to Face interview with two engineers. They first spoke about what they do in the company and the various positions available for internships. They were very friendly and more than happy to answer any questions you may have.

Question 1
Tell me about yourself. Asked about my current and past experiences.
Hr screening then standard interview with manager. The hr interview was on the phone as a first step. Then the manager for the intern has an interview coordinated by HR. The interview was virtual and the cameras were on.
It was a positive interview process that was short, I didn't hear back from them for awhile so I was pleasantly surprised when I got the call offering an internship. I really appreciated National Grid's values and they have a comprehensive internship program so I accepted.

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at National Grid (Waltham, MA) in Jan 2018
Interview
I applied online, and was emailed about a month later to schedule an in person interview. It was a little intimidating, as there were two interviewers and one was speaking through a conference call. Overall it was basic questions.
