      Marketing Interview

      Feb 22, 2018
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Nestlé in Feb 2018

      Interview

The interview process was a very lengthy but rewarding experience for me. I first submitted an application for the marketing intern position in November 2017. Did not hear back about first round interviews (30 minute behavioural phone call) until sometime in Mid-January 2018. After the phone interview I was immediately notified by the HR that I made it to the second round, which was a group interview that took place at their head office for the entire day. It consisted of a group case presentation and a digital marketing activity. After 2 or 3 weeks, I was notified that I made it to final round, which was another one hour interview panel concentrating on behaviourals at the office. So overall there was 4 rounds (including submitting the application) and was a difficult process. HR told me that they chose 60 people out of a pool of 700 applicants to make it to the group interview day, and from those 60 students they chose the top 20 to come in and interview for the final round. And out of that, i think around 5-6 of us are chosen. Make sure to show your team-working, leadership, problem-solving/analytical and creativity skills for the marketing position. If you have a group interview like me, it's important for the group to do well collectively (and remember to have fun!). For example, my team worked very collaboratively together and our good teamwork definitely shined through in our case presentation and digital marketing activity. As a result, all of us got final round interviews. For the individual and panel interviews, just make sure to have a few good failure, leadership and teamwork stories ready and definitely use the STAR format. Be engaging and confident during the interview and make it more conversational with your interviewer rather than sounding very rehearsed or stiff. Definitely try to know the company inside and out and talk to as many Nestlé employees you can - i find that it's the best way to learn more about the company's diverse product lines as well as its corporate culture. With so many applicants with the same resume qualifications and skills, at the end, all they really want is an intern who is passionate and a great fit for the company, and has the transferable skills that will help them exceed on the job.
