      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Atlanta, GA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at New Relic (Atlanta, GA) in Jun 2024

      Interview

New Relic actually used a recruiting company called Pareto. From beginning to end, I only had communication with Pareto recruiters, which was extremely frustrating. The interview process was a full day (11am - 5pm) and it's called Assessment Day. You will be on Zoom the entire time, and no, there is no compensation for your time. Pareto recruiters put a lot of emphasis on you speaking about why you want to work at New Relic specifically, as if you are already working there and know the ins and outs of the company. They put emphasis on having 5-6 questions ready, only to have time to let 4-5 people ask 1 question (there will be around 20 people also interviewing). You have 2 group assignments to do: one being a random question that does a poor job of communicating what you are able to bring to the table, and the other being a cold call practice that only 8 people will get to participate in. If you are not one of the participants for either assignment or asking a question, they will knock off points, even if you tried and weren't picked. Then you have a 3-minute pitch about why you want to work at New Relic and why you want to be an SDR. It will be timed and they want you to memorize it. Pareto and New Relic had terrible communication with each other, which left multiple attendees confused about details. I was told the job would be hybrid by my recruiter, only for them to tell us, day of and towards the end of the assessment, that it will actually be fully onsite. At the end, they call you and tell you whether you got the job or not. Throughout the day, they will tell you how much you are liked and create a false sense of security with their applicants. If you do not get the job, you have to wait days for feedback, which is extremely inappropriate for the amount of time the process took and how much emphasis they put on communication. New Relic seemed like a really cool company to work for, but I am disgusted with how the hiring process went. This type of hiring process is dangerous for people's mental health. Having to take off from work to attend, no compensation, homework, etc., it's a terrible practice. I will never apply again.

      Question 1

      1. What is your favorite non-academic achievement and who is one celebrity you would want to represent? 2. (this question is for when you break out into smaller groups) all your celebrities are stranded on a raft. only half of them can stay on and the other half have to go into shark infested water. Advocate for your celebrity and why they should stay on the raft.
