      Financial Services Professional Interview

      Feb 11, 2012
      Anonymous employee
      Los Angeles, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at New York Life (Los Angeles, CA) in Feb 2012

      Interview

For the first interview I met with the recruiter and they asked me basic questions about myself and where I saw myself in 3 years. They asked me how much I wanted to make now and in three years and what my strengths were that set me apart from people with similar educational backgrounds. Then I had to take a personality test on the computer. I got called back for a second interview after the personality test determined I was a good fit and met with the senior partner who asked me similar questions the recruiter did; about a time I had failed and how I dealt with it, about what my strongest attribute was etc.

A personality assessment was emailed to be completed before the first interview. Next was the initial screening Zoom call with manager discussing role. I interviewed at New York Life

      Interview

Was brief, mostly looking for a personality that matches the job and more so with your actual manager that you will be working with and not the entire company. Had about 3 different interviews and did some exercises that would show a little bit more about who I was and what kind of personal - not work related - experiences I had.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at New York Life

      Interview

There isn’t much of an interview for this position. It’s honestly more of an opportunity for them to get you excited to join. There’s a reason 90% of new agents do not make it through their first year. It certainly isn’t undoable from my limited research but it feels very MLM in their organization.
