      Financial Advisor Interview

      Feb 12, 2014
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at New York Life (New York, NY) in Nov 2013

      Interview

Applied through college career center, got a call back within 1 week to set up an interview. I find out on arrival that it is a group interview and am kept waiting 45 mins. Guy struts in with slicked back hair and shirt half unbottoned. Real boiler room type guy. He was rude and short with everyone. Dismissed me not long after, thank god.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

If you read the top section about the hiring and interview process then this will make sense: why do you want to work here was the most difficult questions (and the same time the easiest questions). I didnt want to work there but was too embarrassed to say so, so I fumbled through it talking about starting a career and making money to provide for my family.

Easy and good people. Made the process feel more like a conversation than anything. Did not feel on edge at all. I really enjoyed the time there. Overall, more of a discussion than anything.

      Interview

Don't waste time with this company. This gave me a wrong interview time, I showed up but no one is there, I can't reached out to anyone. IT WASTE MY WHOLE DAY! After almost 5 hrs of the scheduled meeting time, someone finally replied me with only one sentence, they never scheduled me for that time, I provided them with evidences about the meeting time, they just made up a meeting time no one ever told me. Very unprofessional.
