      Security Officer Interview

      Nov 16, 2017
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      New York, NY
      Declined offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (New York, NY) in Nov 2017

      Interview

The interview process was okay. The hiring contact (security supervisor) was very interested in my skills and past experience. They wanted to know about my experience with incident reports, patrolling and such. Everything was well except the pay is low and non-negotiable. They offered $18 hour and the overnight shift. The interviewer asked me what I make in my current position which is significantly higher. He made it clear he wanted me to leave my current position but was not willing to negotiate the rate. Once I stated that it would be unreasonable to ask that without negotiation, the interviewer was uninterested in hearing anything else I had to say. Honestly, he was quite rude after that. I think NYP is a great place to work but HR definitely needs to prep staff on how to properly interview candidates. Even if there is no match, interviewing is a form of networking and respect goes both way. Also, in NYS it is illegal to ask candidates salary history so staff needs to be prepped on those issues. Overall, the interview was okay but this is more for an entry level person in terms of the salary.

      Interview

The Hiring Process Was Very Easy ‘ I Applied For Security At Cornell And Was Scheduled To Come In For Their Big Security Interview Day Event But Before I Was Set To Go They Had Sent Me A Email Which Required 5 References ( ACTIVE Emails & Telephones) And Wanted Each Reference To Fill Out A Survey On My Job Skills , Etc. After My References Completed Their Survey I Was Sent Another Email Which Was Giving Me The Time I Can Choose To Come In For My Interview. I Sat With a Sergant Very Calm And Easy Question (Other Interviews Was Being Held In The Same Room I Was Placed In But It Was Still 1:1) ... After I Was Done With My Interview I Was Called Back A Week Later & Now Will Be Going In For My Orientation ..
