Newsweek interview questions

The interview process was lengthy and boring. After asking a question they’d say okay and move on. Interviews with no feedback or engagement to conversations shows lack of interest. Even though they reached out for the filling in the position.

I applied for one role and interviewed with a recruiter in the US. So far, so good. I was then told they wanted to consider me for a more senior role which on paper looked good but was very vague and I wasn’t ever really told exactly what was expected. I spoke with two further people, including someone in London and the editor-in-chief, and completed a test. I was told at every stage that my feedback was good and they wanted to progress. At my final interview with the editor-in-chief, who seemed very pleasant and approachable, I asked about the company’s finances (considering they almost went bankrupt a few years ago) and mentioned employee reviews on Glassdoor had been terrible and asked if they were fair. A few days later, I was informed I hadn’t got the job - despite the EIC saying I had excellent experience and was a strong candidate - presumably because I had asked awkward questions. I asked for specific feedback and was not responded to: a huge red flag.
