I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Nordstrom (San Francisco, CA)
Interview
Applied online, was called a day later to have a phone interview with the department manager. The phone interview lasted about 15 minutes. After that, we scheduled a one on one interview with him which was pretty much the same questions. After the interview, I was shown around the store, and the department I applied for.
I didn't get a call back for 2 weeks, when they told me they would call me within a few days. I thought they weren't interested anymore. To my surprise, I got an unexpected call wanting to schedule an interview with the store manager. She was nice and it was actually pretty laid back. I felt confident about all three interviews. They were very professional, efficient, and made me feel at ease during the interviews. I got a call back about a week later saying I was hired. They also check your references. Definitely the longest interview process I have ever had. I don't know if they are picky, or just busy, or maybe both. Whatever the case, be patient. It's worth it.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Lots of situational questions, they want you to be able to sell, and be able to work well on a team.
I applied online. The interview was split into two parts. An at home video recorded interview done by corporate and then a few days between to find out I moved along and will be interviewed in store.
Overall they were fairly common and easy questions. Mainly behavioral with how you would act in difficult situations or sharing an actual experience you with a difficult customer or something else along those lines.
I know some people get a phone interview instead of the video recording first, I'm not sure what the difference is in getting those.
