      Communications and Signals Interview

      Pittsburgh, PA
      Accepted offer
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Norfolk Southern in Dec 2014

      Interview

Interview was pretty early, I believe around 8am. The actual interview process was simple. I had a phone interview which asked basic interview questions and then I had a final interview 4 weeks later in Atlanta where I basically explained my resume.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

How do you feel about frequent travel?

      Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Norfolk Southern (Pittsburgh, PA) in Nov 2017

      Interview

The process was somewhat laid-back. It was a friendly, simple interview. The questions weren't overtly tricky, mostly just your run-of-the-mill questions. They seemed to respect a blue-collar background and encouraged that they promoted keeping the business family-friendly. The post-offer process was more stressful than the actual inteviews, as you are required a full medical exam, drug test, and submission of medical records.

      Interview questions [3]

      Question 1

Have you ever been in a role where you had to follow instructions, and how did you react?
      Answer question

      Question 2

What relevant experience do you have in regards to working in adverse conditions?
      Answer question

      Question 3

Why do you think Norfolk Southern would be a good fit for you?

      Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Norfolk Southern (Blacksburg, VA) in Mar 2016

      Interview

It was fairly simple. I met with the team of interviewers in the morning, got asked some professional questions, asked why I thought I would be a good fit, talked to them about the program, asked them why they stayed at the company, and then it was a waiting game. I didn't think they liked me because they had spectacular game faces, but they apparently did like me so that was cool.

      Question 1

What is one time you were faced with a difficult situation and how did you handel it?

      Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Norfolk Southern (University Park, PA) in Feb 2016

      Interview

Well I talked to the recruiter during career fair about a Communications and Signals Internship and the next day I got an on campus interview. It was fairly simply, the interviewer asked me about stuff from my resume, then he asked if i was available to relocation as the position was in Atlanta, GA. Standard questions like why should i hire you and name one of your greatest weakness was also asked. The interview took about 30 minutes and then I heard back from the interviewer about 2 months stating that they hired a better candidate.
