I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Northeastern University (Boston, MA) in Mar 2014
Interview
The interview started with a campus tour, including different departments and their labs. Then, we had lunch with department dean and several other faculty members. During the lunch, the dean introduced the department and research areas and projects. After lunch, a department tour was provided, including lab tour with different faculty members. I had chance to talk with one or two faculty members after the tour of each lab. At the end, I had a meeting with several graduate students in their department to discuss their research and campus life.

What projects have you been working on? What is the goal for you to join our program?
I interviewed at Northeastern University (Boston, MA)
Interview
No interview. Only two recommendation letters required because transfer from another US university. Bureaucracy required personal interaction and multiple phone calls and emails with international student office and assistant in department.

Interview
Fairly quickly, usually candidates are invited to come tour the campus and meet professors before they are committed into a lab. As an international student the office of international students was really helpful in getting travel documents rady

Question 1
WHy do you want to come to NEU and what are your expectations after you graduate with your degree?
Very comfortable yet professional. They seem to care more about whether you fit in rather than how impressive your resume may be. This is a huge green flag. I was also told that although previous experience for certain things was preferred, it is not a deal breaker. Techniques can always be taught.
