I applied for the Application Support Engineer role at Northern Trust. The first interview was straightforward, a phone call with the recruiter who just wanted to confirm the time for the hiring manager's interview. I asked a few questions about the company, but no mention of the actual work schedule was made at this point.
The second interview with the hiring manager was more detailed, but I was caught off guard when I found out that Saturday work was required, something I wasn’t informed of by the recruiter. This was a bit of a shock and made it difficult for me to focus fully on the rest of the interview.
Even though I later clarified that I would be willing to work weekends, the process stalled, and I was left without communication for over a month. It was disappointing to have such an unexpected detail revealed late in the process and to not receive timely updates after showing my continued interest.
Overall, it was a frustrating experience, and I was left feeling that the communication and transparency could have been much better.
