The first interview was a system design interview, which went really well. The second interview was a project presentation interview, and that also seemed to have gone well. Confusingly, despite being well overqualified and having solid interviews, I was turned down for the position. I figured they had hired someone with even more stellar credentials, but now several weeks later I see the same job posted with now over 700 applicants. This company has several other promoted job postings with a large candidate pool that keep getting refreshed. It doesn't seem as if the company is actually hiring for these positions and may be doing market research of some kind. They also dragged their feet and the process took about a month.
