My interview was a one-on-one with someone besides who I had been emailing and phoning with. I filled out a pre-interview quiz which was just selecting words I thought represented me, and then words I thought other people would think represent me (pretty much complete overlap?) The interview itself consisted little about my qualifications and background and more of what my family and professional references were like. I didn't think too much of the questions at the time until the end of the interview when my interviewer asked if I had any other friends that might be interested in working there. I responded truthfully, that most of my network either already had jobs or lived out of the state at the time. That apparently was not a satisfactory answer as the interviewer pressed me again after my initial decline. Becoming very uncomfortable with the pressure I provided my SO's contact information just to satisfy her and leave. She pressed me again and grilled me on his qualifications. I had to make up some story about how we met in econ class just to get her off my back and I rushed out. Sure enough, THE NEXT MORNING my SO received a phone call from the same interviewer and I listened to her say " we would love to offer you a job if you'd come in." And the prescreen vocab test? Printed off to use as some crock personality test that the interviewer then advised me how I wasn't a team player and had trouble staying on task. Just because I considered myself "tidy". If you get a call from Northwestern Mutual don't walk from the phone, RUN!
