I applied online and a recruiter followed up quickly and we arranged a phone call. Personally, I didn't find the recruiter to be very friendly and my interaction with them almost made me not want the job. I felt that they were very judgemental and annoyed about some of the answers I had given.
I ended up getting moved on to the next round of virtual interviews with the hiring manager and a few other colleagues and that was a much better experience. The interview itself flowed well and it was clear that they all had reviewed my resume.
After learning more about the job and the environment, I felt that it wasn't going to be a good fit for me. Additionally, when it came to salary, it was unclear if they were going to be able to meet my salary expectations and I felt that they were trying to avoid those discussions. I emailed the recruiter and hiring manager to withdraw my candidacy and got an automated email back a week later saying that they were moving on with another candidate.
