Too Many Interviews, Unclear Decision-Making
I recently went through the interview process for an Employee Relations position with Nutanix, and while the team was generally nice, recruitment was fantastic, the experience was disappointing. The process took over a month and six rounds of interviews, including multiple panel interviews with various stakeholders. At a certain point, it felt excessive almost like a case of too many cooks in the kitchen.
One of the ER team members even stated during the interview that the hiring manager had been interviewing “tons” of candidates and wished she would make up her mind and decide on a candidate. That should have been a red flag, and in hindsight, I should have taken it more seriously and ran for the hills. It was clear that they either didn’t know what they were looking for or were taking advantage of the situation by over-interviewing candidates.
I invested over three and a half hours in this process, only to ultimately not be selected. I understand that not every candidate will get the job, but this level of back-and-forth signals indecisiveness at the leadership level and a lack of respect for candidates’ time.
Another observation: while the team was friendly, it was hard not to notice the lack of diversity within the department. As a woman of color, I couldn’t help but wonder if my background played a role in the decision. I don’t want to assume, but when companies talk about diversity yet don’t reflect it in their hiring choices, it’s worth noting.
Overall, if you're considering applying here, be prepared for a long, drawn-out process that may not lead to a selection. If I had known what I know now, I would have saved my time and energy. Lesson learned!
