      Interview

Company: Nutanix Role: Member of Technical Staff (QA Automation) Location: Bangalore Interview Rounds: 4 (Technical Interview - 1, Technical Interview - 2, Managerial Round, HR Discussion) Interview Experience Overview I recently interviewed for the Member of Technical Staff (QA Automation) role at Nutanix in Bangalore. The entire process was well-structured and comprehensive, covering multiple aspects of automation testing, programming, test strategies, virtualization, and collaboration between QA and development teams. Although I couldn’t proceed beyond the Managerial Round, I had a great learning experience throughout the process. --- Interview Process Round 1: Technical Interview - 1 This round was focused on test automation, Selenium, Python, and fundamental programming concepts. The interviewer asked various questions to evaluate problem-solving skills, automation knowledge, and scripting proficiency. Some key topics covered were: - Fixtures in automation testing – Importance, advantages, and implementation across different frameworks. - Common HTTP methods and response codes – GET, POST, PUT, DELETE, PATCH, and related status codes like 200, 201, 400, 404, 500. - Selenium Locators & Navigation – Different locators (ID, XPath, CSS Selector, etc.) and navigating between pages in Selenium & Robot Framework. - Waits in Selenium/Robot Framework – Explicit vs. Implicit waits and their differences. - Python Concepts – Difference between List and Tuple, error handling in PyTest (xfail method). - Coding Questions: - Find unique elements from a list. - Find the longest substring from a given text. - Sort a list using substrings. - Count the characters in a string. - Git Commands – Basic and frequently used Git operations. - Networking Concepts – Difference between TCP and UDP. --- Round 2: Technical Interview - 2 This round focused on software testing methodologies, debugging, and test case creation. Key questions included: - Integration Testing – Importance and steps involved. - Unit Testing – Steps and implementation. - Test Strategy – Definition and significance. - Testing Scope & Test Bed – Definitions and differences. - Code Coverage & Bug Reporting. - Coding Tasks: - Find the second largest number from a given set. - Write test cases (Testcase ID, Input, Expected Output, Description) for the above problem. - Sum of values where elements are stored as strings. - Find pairs of numbers whose sum equals 8 and write test cases based on input scenarios. --- Round 3: Managerial Round This round was more conceptual and scenario-based, focusing on virtualization, infrastructure, and real-world testing challenges. Some key discussions: - Bare Metal in Virtualization – Understanding and use cases. - Types of Testing – Various testing methodologies and their importance. - Virtual Machines & IPMI – Importance and role in cloud/virtualization. - QA & Developer Collaboration – Best practices and engagement strategies. - Log Analysis & Reporting – How to analyze logs effectively. - Soda Dispensing Machine Scenario – Test case scenarios for functionality testing. - Previous Project Discussion – My experience and contributions. I did not proceed beyond this round, but the experience was insightful and challenging. --- Final Thoughts I had an overall great experience during the interview process at Nutanix. The interviewers were knowledgeable and provided constructive feedback throughout. The technical discussions were well-structured and gave me a clear understanding of Nutanix’s expectations from a QA Automation Engineer. Although I was not selected for the Managerial round, I appreciated the opportunity to interview with a leading enterprise cloud computing company. I highly recommend thorough preparation in automation frameworks, Python programming, test case design, and virtualization concepts for anyone aiming to clear this interview. Suggestions for Future Candidates: - Strengthen your Python & Automation Testing Skills – Focus on Selenium, PyTest, and Robot Framework. - Revise Core Testing Concepts – Unit Testing, Integration Testing, Test Strategy, Code Coverage. - Prepare for Coding Challenges – Solve Python problems related to lists, strings, and set operations. - Brush up on Virtualization & Cloud Basics – Understand bare metal, VMs, IPMI, and cloud technologies. - Improve Debugging & Log Analysis Skills – Demonstrate how to debug test failures efficiently. Final Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5) - Difficulty Level: Moderate to Hard - Interview Experience: Excellent - Feedback & Interaction: Positive and Professional - Selection Process Transparency: Clear & Well-Defined I wish I could have proceeded to the final HR round, but this experience has helped me identify areas for improvement. I hope this review helps future candidates prepare better. Good luck!

Round 3: Technical(Face-to-Face)- Real life based problems asked including some questions on Algorithms. Round 4: Behavioral(Face-to-Face) It went on for 2 hrs.
