They sent me an email inviting me to an interview with a preliminary assessment. The test was weird and seemingly unnecessary. Then you wait some more and this lady walks in with the coldest demeanor I have ever witnessed in my life. If you smile with her, she won't smile back. If you speak about your experience (which is what you're supposed to do), she wants you to answer it as a yes or no question. She sat there with her hands folded and her back straight with no expression. I completely froze and my mind went blank because it felt like she was trying to burn through my soul; I felt like a was on an episode of the Hunger Games. It felt more like an interrogation than an interview. I have excellent relationships with top notch editors and PR professionals, and I have never had such a terrible and awful experience. Hint, writers are creative types, don't approach us like you want us to build you a spaceship. Read the portfolio and its either you see what you like, or you don't. You "interview" writers by providing them with a few assignments and seeing if you like what they produced. It was awful and a waste of my time. I couldn't even remember anything about my experience bc of her demeanor and attitude. I ran out of there; that was the first job interview I ever left feeling relieved.
