A recruiter contacted me to schedule a phone interview with an engineer. In that interview, I was asked about my background, etc. and given a couple of easy programming problems. That was followed by a second phone interview with a different engineer, in which I was asked about my projects and given another easy problem. Next, I was scheduled for an onsite interview, which took place in January 2017. That interview consisted of a 4-5 hour assignment working on a miniature toy application using their (proprietary) platform as well as two technical interviews with engineers, one non-technical interview with an executive and a code review of my work on the assignment. For the assignment, I was given a skeleton application and a list of features to implement. It was a unique experience and it was interesting to get an opportunity to demonstrate how quickly I could familiarize myself with an unfamiliar code base. At the end of the day, I was told that I should hear back in a few days, but I never did and the recruiter did not respond to either of my follow-up emails in the following weeks. That is too bad. They seemed like a really nice company, but the choice not to send out their decision, even if it was just a generic rejection email, after they went through the trouble of having me for an onsite interview was inconsiderate and more than a little hurtful.

It was more than a year ago so don't remember all the specifics. Basically, it took 2 months for them to schedule one phone screen and another phone technical interview (programming). By the time they offered to a second phone technical interview (or was it in-person?) I had multiple job offers and couldn't push them back any more. Granted, it was between November and January so there were some holidays but the recruiter just had the worst communication skills and habits. Wouldn't email me / call me back for weeks. My headhunter would contact them and would get no replies. I really wanted to work for this company because I loved the location and their technology seemed interesting but at that pace it would have taken 4+ month for an offer, if any. In hindsight I'm very glad I didn't pursue them any further because they had a massive layoff in mid-2017 where all the employees hired less than a year ago were laid off. I would have been laid off a month or two after being hired. Also the manager I spoke to during the second interview refused to answer any of my questions. I was interested in how their products were used by their clients, what sets them apart from other similar tech companies, etc. Their technology is cool and all but that doesn't mean it will actually sell and/or ever be used in a productive fashion. He basically said he doesn't answer those questions. I wasn't going to invest any more of my time in a company of which I can't gauge business prospects. The interviewer was very personable, friendly, and professional throughout the interview up to that point, however.
