I was approached directly by OUP, as I was working for one of their direct competitors. There wasn't an interview process as such. There was a 'chat' on the phone followed by a panel 'chat' at the Oxford office. They hadn't really prepared anything as it was obvious from the outset that they wanted to lure me away from my current employer to do the identical role for OUP. They raved about all of the benefits of working for OUP- flexible working, job security, final salary pension plan. They also ran down my current employer. I gave up a good job and came to OUP. Within a year they had shown that all of the benefits they mentioned were untrue. There was no flexible working, the final salary pension plan was wound up (and down-graded for those of us already on the plan) and as for the promised job security, they made me and others they had lured from other roles redundant-all of us wishing we had never allowed OUP to convince us to leave great jobs at competitors.
