Software Development Engineer In Test (SDET) Interview

      Aug 6, 2021
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Chicago, IL
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at PEAK6 (Chicago, IL) in Jul 2021

      Interview

Applied online. 1. First HR talk, 15 - 30mins. HR is 15 mins late and no apologize at all..... 2. Unlike others get an OA, I got a take home assessment. It's a small project which need you to solve a problem by coding and write down some unit tests on it. I didn't enjoy this at all. Main reason is: apparently whoever design this home assessment did a bad job. In the guide it specifically says MAY NOT import any libraries except for Java:Random. With this limitation, the only available data structure in java is array and not to mention Junit and other library. So I implemented this perfectly within this limitation but then the feedback I got is: expecting candidate to use more data structure NOT JUST ARRAY... ??? I think adding too many limitations to a take home assessment doesn't make sense at all, let alone they're also incorrect and misleading. Imagine if you work under an environment with ambiguities and even wrong information every where, how do you like that?

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The question is just an easy problem-solving style small project. The core is an algorithm problem.
