The first interview was a 30 minute phone screen with the recruiter. The second interview was an hour with two team members, one of which was going to be the direct supervisor of the position I had applied for. The recruiter contacted me shortly after the second interview to tell me they wanted to forgo the third interview with the department director because they were impressed with my resume and the feedback they received from the two team members who conducted the second interview. I was sent the benefits package the next day, and was told that I could expect the offer letter within the next week. A week went by and I was told the offer letter was pending approval and they hoped to have it to me by the following week. However, I didn't receive an update the following week. I assumed people were out of the office due to spring break, so I waited another week to follow up and was told they're still waiting on approval. Another week went by and I still hadn't heard anything. I emailed the recruiter but didn't receive a response, so I followed up with a text a couple days later. The recruiter apologized for the unusual delay and explained my offer letter was still in approvals. Entering the 5th week post the verbal offer, I assumed it wasn't going to work out. After waiting a total of 32 days after they extended the verbal offer, I was told via text that they are on a hiring freeze. This was a major red flag because they had shared early on in the process that they were trying to fill 3-4 positions of the same role due to the growth of their business and that they were having trouble finding qualified candidates. The recruiter told me they would reach out if anything changes, but I requested to be withdrawn from future consideration given the poor experience. In hindsight, this was a bullet dodged - clearly, there is a lack of strategic planning from a hiring perspective and poor communication all around. If they string along potential new hires, I'm concerned how they treat their staff and credit union members. I do not recommend applying here.
