      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at PENFED Credit Union in Feb 2025

      Interview

The recruiter was exceptionally professional and one of the best I’ve ever spoken with. During the initial screening, she thoroughly reviewed my resume. The next day, she informed me that I would be moving forward to the second round, which was a technical live coding interview. This round was quite intensive and challenging. A day later, the recruiter called to let me know I had passed and scheduled me for the third round—a case study interview with the hiring manager. Unfortunately, I did not pass this round. I also learned that even if I had passed, there would have been two more interview rounds ahead. Overall, the entire interview process was smooth, professional, and challenging. And recruiter is responsive and fast. I highly recommend job seekers to try to apply for the positions from this credit union so you can enhance interview skills.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at PENFED Credit Union (Tysons Corner, VA)

      Interview

The interview process was relatively quick and well coordinated. After applying online, I was contacted by a recruiter who indicated my resume would be shared with the hiring team. Within two days, I was invited to an in-person interview consisting of three 30-minute rounds. The first interviewer was professional and engaging. The discussion focused on my experience, along with a few analytical questions, including a high-level estimation scenario and a basic speed calculation. He also allowed time for candidate questions, which I appreciated. The third interviewer also provided a positive experience, presenting a structured business case focused on profit and breakeven analysis. The conversation felt relevant to the role and was conducted professionally. The second interview, however, felt inconsistent with the overall process. The interviewer did not provide an introduction or context for the discussion and appeared to move through the session quickly. I was asked to handwrite a SQL query, which felt somewhat misaligned with the role expectations and format of the other interviews. Additionally, there was no time allocated for candidate questions at the end. Overall, the process was efficient, but the interview experience varied significantly by interviewer. Greater consistency in interview structure, expectations, and candidate engagement would improve the experience.
