Day 1: Applied online through their careers site
Day 3: Received an invite from HR to discuss my profile on Day 4.
Day 4: Had a 20 mins call with HR.
Day 8: HR called back saying "My resume has got a positive feedback and they would like to proceed further with my application." This indicates they had thoroughly studied my resume. So, the HR scheduled a 1 hour WebEx interview with the Team Lead for Day 11.
Day 11: I tested the invite prior the meeting and discovered that their WebEx wasn't working. Conveyed the same to the HR. HR then scheduled Skype call. During the Skype meeting, we experienced network issues. So, we switched to audio phone call. The call went very fine for 30 mins. The interviewer asked me 8-10 questions to which I stated my answers with the real-life experiences and incidents. In return, I asked many questions concerning the role and the practices they follow. He indicated that he was impressed with the questions I asked and the points I made during the conversation. He said, they will get back to me and also added, "If he liked talking to me, the next conversation would be with the teammates. "
Day 16: The HR called me up saying " The team manager could hardly understand the conversation due to network issues. " This was surprising as it contradicted with the uninterrupted conversation we had over phone . Then the HR added, " they have decided to arrange another conversation with the teammates." (He had indicated it as the next step in the process - that added to the contrast.)
Day 17: Got a meeting invite from the HR for an interview on Day 24.
Day 24: Based on my past experience, I tried connecting to the WebEx prior meeting but the WebEx had access restriction issue (probably an issue with Microsoft Active Directory Services.). So, requested to have a phone call to avoid their concern based on the 1st round's feedback.
Day 25: Despite, the panel proposed a WhatsApp Video Call at the last moment. As anticipated, the network had congestion and the call got disconnected once. Besides, in approx. 60 mins call, the panel asked me Similar (to 1st round) + New questions to test my domain knowledge and the stuff written in my resume. I answered all the questions with confidence and technical aspects based on my expertise. The panel said, hope to talk to you , again.
Day 25: I dropped a thank you email to the HR. No response from HR.
Day 31: I dropped a follow up email. No response from HR.
Day 36: I dropped another follow up email. In response, got a call from HR saying the panel went on vacation hence the delay in collecting feedback and said, they have decided NOT to move forward with my application because - "I lack international work experience." I found a contrast in this because- " They had scanned my resume initially in the process and based on the positive feedback they had decided to move ahead with my application and conducted 3 rounds over a month . Also, " Prior International Work Experience " was NOT mentioned in the Job Description. If this was so crucial, it must have been mentioned in the J.D. Also, If they did not mention but they were looking for this factor, they could have raised this concern in the initial screening as all my required details were with them since beginning. After 3 conversations over a month (probably at the time of finalising my candidature ) they realised that I haven't worked in different countries (although I have worked with Geo-graphically dispersed teams).
The overall interview process lacks speed, promptness, communication and clarity. The reason of rejection looks fishy and contradictory.
