      Gallery Associate Interview

      Jul 29, 2012
      Anonymous employee
      Miami, FL
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Park West Gallery (Miami, FL)

      Interview

You'll send an application and if they like you they will send you a packet of information to study. You'll be asked to give a 3-5 minute presentation about a work of art over skype, and then have a full interview depending on your performance. Study enough so that you are confident and calm when speaking. If you make it past that, you'll be sent dates for their 10-day week training session, where the interview really begins. You will have classes on art and sales, all the while giving presentations to the class, participating in fake auctions, and taking written tests. Study hard, be charming and likeable, and ask as many questions as possible without being annoying. It is more important for you to be a good salesman that an art expert, so don't sweat it if the art part doesn't come naturally. Fake it as best you can! Some people will be sent home if they perform poorly. Otherwise, at the end you will be assigned a ship based on your performance and sent off as soon as possible!

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The hardest questions were related to sales, particularly on how to overcome objections in the gallery. Read a sales guidebook before attending training.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Park West Gallery in Jul 2017

      Interview

The interview process was very clear and smooth. I really enjoyed the process. After applying, I was offered an interview and did the whole process. 1. Skype Interview This first interview is about an hour and its all about you. The questions are directed at who you are, why you think you're a good fit for the position, etc. I received the invite to this interview about a week after I applied. 2. Presentation If the first interview goes well, you will be asked to do a Skype artist presentation. This is a 2-3 minute presentation about an artist that the interviewer chooses in advance. The whole purpose here is to see how well you perform presenting, and can you present an artist in a clear and concise way that would interest potential buyers. 3. CSS Staffing Forms If all goes well, you will receive some documents from CSS (Caribbean Staffing Solutions), which does the background checks for Park West Galleries. 4. Offer If all checks out okay, you will get an offer. I was given 3 business days to make a decision. One of the things I really enjoyed about the process was that it was super clear and transparent. I was told from the beginning what the processes looked like, the pros and cons of the position, the salary, and the possibility for growth in the company. It was also made super clear to me what to expect in the interview process and what would happen next.

      Gallery Associate Interview

      Nov 8, 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Newcastle upon Tyne, England
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Park West Gallery (Newcastle upon Tyne, England) in Jun 2016

      Interview

I submitted my CV and Covering Letter and received the invitation letter in two days. The skype interview processed pretty well. I answered questions such as my linguistic competency (I speak English, Mandarin and Japanese), my past work experience, and where do I see myself in 5 years. Letter the HR manager told me she would like me to do a second round interview. She said the details will be informed by email, but she did tell me that the second round was gonna be a sales pitch. After 4 days I received an email, saying that I had to do a 3 minute sales pitch for an artist. Then I passed the second round as well. However, I later on declined the offer after having a great read on the contract. I figured the benefits provided by this company weren't the one I want. In my view, the articles tend to protect the gallery and do nothing to protect employees.
