I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at PathAI (Boston, MA) in Apr 2020
Interview
Long, drawn-out process and a torturous presentation at the end with zero guidance -- speak to a lot of people asking the same questions over and over that are on distant teams. No one asked questions during the presentation. This is just a glorified imaging company with a cocky CEO with a "nice to have" technology

Interview
The recruiter was superficial, she couldn't be bothered to spend time with me. No probing questions, no questions pertinent to the job description. I'm an older candidate, do the math.

Question 1
I only have 20 minutes, so tell me about your background.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at PathAI
Interview
(1) Employee referral (Month 1) (2) Initial 30-min conversation with internal recruiter (relevant experience & salary expectations discussed) (Month 2) (3) Met with hiring manager (30 min) (Month 2) (4) Another 30-min conversation with hiring manager (within a few days of first call) (Month 2) (5) Another 30-min call with HR/recruiter to prep for presentation & 5 interviews and re-confirm salary expectations (Month 3) (6) 60-min recorded presentation including Q&A (Month 3) (7) Five 45-minute interviews that took place on the same day & the day after the presentation (Month 3) (8) Final 30-min call with the hiring manager (Month 4) - I was under the impression (from both recruiter & hiring manager) that this was going to involve a verbal offer. Instead, it was a role refining & restructuring conversation. When the call ended, I asked about the timing to refine the role & complete the hiring process. Answer: "About 2 weeks." (9) Now it's been over 2 months since that final call/interview with no communication or updates from HR or the hiring manager (Months 5-6) (10) Received offer from another company while still awaiting "next steps" from PathAI more than 6 months after hiring process began (11) Layoffs in June, coupled with internal restructuring and title changes, has led to a disorganized and mismanaged hiring process Advice to management: If you have hiring delays or freezes, communicating with candidates after the completed interview process builds trust & enthusiasm for when the hiring process resumes. You don't want to lose your best applicants because of a change in your hiring timeline. Don't give candidates the impression you intend to hire them if they successfully finish the interview process if you have no intention of doing so. It's disrespectful and a tremendous waste of the candidate's time, your time, and your team's time (6-7 hours of active interview time plus the substantial preparation time involved on both ends) Remember: a current candidate may ultimately become a potential customer...don't ruin the opportunity to work together in all capacities!
