      Junior Sales Associate Interview

      Aug 29, 2014
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at PaySimple

      Interview

Applied online, their hiring manager called me within a few days. Phone interview was pretty basic: "How did you find us? Tell us about yourself etc." Sales manager called me the next day, and asked similar questions "Why sales? Where do you see yourself in 5 years." Then they scheduled a face-to-face interview. The face-to-face was a waste of time and money. I had to take off and bus myself down there, only to interview with the same people I talked with on the phone. And they asked the same questions from the phone interview (Why paysimple? Why do you think you would be a good fit? Where do you see yourself in 5 years?). Short interview with the hiring manager and then a short interview with the sales manager. Sales manager said that their VP (or whoever the higher up was that was supposed to interview me) couldn't make it at the last minute, and that I could go. Waste of time. Spent 45 min. commuting each way for 15 minutes of interview which was basically a replay of the phone interview. Sales manager was a bit unprofessional. Didn't say anything about letting me know one way or the other, until I pressed him as I was leaving. Seemed like he made up his mind in his head, and so forgot that I was there and was still thinking I had a shot at the job. Hear nothing until 2 days later when I get a form-letter rejection via email. I asked him a few questions in the interview and all I got were canned responses. Of course saltiness is natural with rejection, but this was one of the more unprofessional (and a bit rude) hiring processes I've been through. I echo other comments on here: in a business in a pretty saturated market, they seem to try and set themselves apart via marketing, instead of superior tech. No idea why they choose to have so much overhead. Huge 2nd floor office in Lodo for an online business that doesn't have clients physically coming in? Its got a bit of an "Entertainment 720" feel to it..

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Nothing really difficult and pretty much the same things they asked me on the phone: Hiring Manager: -What would you do for a job if money didn't matter? - If you were a beverage, what would you be? - This is a job where you make 120 calls a day and maybe get 4 bites, can you handle that? Sales Manager: - Where do you see yourself in 5 years? - Why do you want this job? Why paysimple? - Why sales? Why do you think you can do it?

      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at PaySimple (Denver, CO) in Jul 2014

      Interview

Applied via LinkedIn, was contacted by their HR rep, set up a phone call. After the phone call since I was an out-of-state applicant I had an additional phone call with their Sales Manager. He then invited me to come out to Denver. Got to Denver was interviewed by the HR rep, then one Sales Manager, and Onboarding Manager followed by the VP of Sales and the COO. All went great. What was a disappointment was the VP of Sales loved me and said they would probably make an offer then I received a generic cut and paste email saying I didn't get the job. It was a twelve word sentence exactly. If a company will treat someone who spent nearly $1,200 of their own money to fly out and interview with them like that, then its not a company I would want to work for.
