Recently interviewed with the VP of engineering. Most of the questions were related to my experience with Software Engineering. This person told me at the end of the interview that he was going to set up the next one and that it would be with a team.
The next day, the recruiter told me that "he liked you, but they are going for more lead / senior candidates". Funny thing is there were no questions about leadership / mentoring which I have done in the past. I guess it’s fair to say I was lied to my face about passing the interview and later about the reason for rejection. Rejection is a totally normal part of interviewing, but the infuriating part is the disrespect of lying to a person face for no reason. What an awful thing to do to an interviewee. Being so higher up, I hope this person respect his employees.
