The manager didn't seem prepared for the interview and came up with one question for the whole interview. I did my best to communicate effectively and gave clear and concise answers to help navigate the interview. I understand the responsibility for making yourself a better interviewer. If you are still reviewing the resume five minutes before an interview and winging your questions, you are wasting your candidates' time and relying on bias to make hiring decisions. This will result in poor hiring decisions over time (not to mention it's a major problem from a DEI lens). Build well thought out interviews loops, take time to prepare for and reflect on your interviews, build yourself a rubric to follow so you're not thinking on the spot. Set yourself up for success and watch your hiring success and candidate experience grow.
