      Software Engineer Interview

      Jan 4, 2021
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Pune
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Persistent Systems (Pune) in Sep 2020

      Interview

First of all there was a pre-placement talk, where they told about the how company works, it's history, how it is handling things at the time of covid-19, the packages it offers, and then answered our questions. This is where they introduced that they offer a base package of 4.51LPA and only those who perform flawless get 6.41 or 8.41LPA. Then the first test happened, it was an AMCAT test, had general verbal, logical, quant sections and also had computer section, carried OS, DBMS, CN, OOP, you can find syllabus on amcat website. And the last section was two coding questions, easy level, all major programming languages were supported. Then in the evening there was advanced coding round for those who performed well in aptitude test. It was for 60 mins and had two questions. Medium to hard level. All languages were supported. Those who performed good in the advanced coding round were selected for higher package and those who passed amcat and those who did not perform well in advanced coding were selected for base package. Then interviews happened, in first technical interview they ask DBMS, OOP, CN, OS, questions regarding your resume and all the projects you did. Now, if you perform well, answer all the questions, you get recommended for higher package and one more technical interview will be there for you. But even if you were selected for higer package and do not answer all the questions, you will be demoted for lower package. It all depends whether your interviewer will recommend you or not. Then there will be HR round in which your package will be told and if you are demoted, they will give you a choice either reject the base package, which i did, or accept it. It was later revealed, in the HR round that base package if 4.41LPA, and not 4.51LPA, which was mentioned in the pre-placement talk.
