Persistent Systems Sr. QA Automation Engineer interview questions

I got a call from Recruiter and interview got scheduled. Interview was mixed of API and Selenium based Question. Surprisingly Selenium and java questions where all theoretical, and interviewer was expecting exact definitions for each answer. I gave answers with practical examples but interviewer said i don't want practical answers. Means seriously, this is how you are going to judge the candidate?
