I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at PetSmart (Jenkintown, PA) in Dec 2014
Interview
I went in for one interview with the Operations Manager, was called back for a second interview with the Store Manager, and had to take a drug test within 24 hours of being formally offered the position. The interview was comfortable and took place within their main functioning office. The interview began with questions about my prior work experience, my long-term goals, and why I want to work at PetSmart, and then eventually was turned over to me. I recommend having a few questions to ask them, as they seemed particularly impressed that I had a solid foundation of knowledge with regard to the company and its standards.
I applied for a number of years through high school. I did not get a call until I attended National Hiring Day. I was able to speak to managers directly. I was a nutritional advocate with a pet food company before within Petsmart for about 6 months. Manager got to know me that way. I got a job offer from 2 locations following the interview day. Accepted 1 and now have trained all sales employees cash that currently work there. I’ve been there for almost 10 years now. It wasn’t easy for me to get an interview. But it was worth the wait in the long run.
Short and to the point in terms of how you handle situations and customers. Offer guidance in what they are looking for. Prior experience is not necessary but will always help.
It was a pretty retail interview experience. They talked about what working with pets and animals would be like and how to handle that, and also just things about retail in general.
