      Marketing Data Analyst Interview

      May 30, 2009
      Anonymous employee
      San Diego, CA
      Accepted offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Petco (San Diego, CA) in Nov 2008

      Interview

I had applied online and my phone interview took place 2-3 months later. There after, I had 3 in-person/panel interviews: one per week. I was also good about following up and checking in. It took them over a month after they had already heard back from all my references to get their offer approved to pass onto me. So in totality, it took about 4-5 months to get hired since I had applied. Advice: For the interview it helps to know about the company so you can speak to it to some extent. You don't necessarily need experience in Marketing to get this job. The job is less about marketing and more about vendor relations and data analysis which is reason why we are commonly referred to as Vendor Analysts internally. In the job description at the time, they didn't define this aspect that well. People, office & work culture: Our team is pretty close-nit even though this position has a high-turnover rate (People don't last more than 1 to 1.5 years) That's probably because there isn't much scope of moving up and the pay isn't that great. Even though the vendor is supposed to be our primary client, we get pulled into a lot of internal projects with short turn-around. It's good for getting more exposure, but our we don't have a very well-defined role.

      Anonymous employee
      San Diego, CA
      Accepted offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Petco (San Diego, CA)

      Interview

Hiring process is a bit lengthy for an entry-level position. Met with an analyst, a supervisor, a manager, 2 directors, 2 or 3 merchants that I would be supporting, and the VP. A little much for the level of role it is.... the questions are not too bad, but they expect advanced degrees and an MBA for some of the entry level roles- very high expectations. Ask for a tour of the office to make sure you know what you are in for.

      Marketing Data Analyst Interview

      Mar 5, 2012
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Petco in Mar 2011

      Interview

Phone interview with HR rep to make sure qualifications fit the position. Once that was done - they followed up with personality test and you mandatory recommendations. After that they requested an in person interview. Met with 4 people from the department - all one on one interviews. A few "logic" questions were asked and further description of the position. Overall, was a fairly straight forward process.
