I found the position on LinkedIn and applied online in late January 2019. Shortly after applying, I received an email from HR to schedule a 30-minute phone screen. HR asked typical questions like what I was looking for in a new position and why I was applying for a role at Petco. The next step was a 30-minute phone interview with the hiring manager. She explained the position in more detail asked more specific questions around my skillset. Then I was required to complete a personality assessment and a cognitive assessment on my own time. The final step in the interview process was going onsite to their campus in Rancho Bernardo, CA for 4 30-minute interviews with the SVP of the department, a director within the department, the hiring manager, and another manager within the department. These were behavioral interviews, and they mostly asked for me to explain my desire to work at Petco, how I work in teams, how I deal with difficult personalities, etc. Overall, they didn't ask anything unexpected. I received a job offer about 2.5 weeks after the onsite interview, but I had to turn it down as they weren't able to meet salary expectations. I had discussed expectations during my initial interview with HR so I was disappointed when I heard the offer and their inability to go much higher than the original offer. I wish HR had shared the salary range for the position before I went all the way through the process since I really was excited for the opportunity.
