The Petco I interviewed at was very understaffed and hires literally anyone that has an interview. It was very simple, two phone calls, and the second was only to formally give me the job offer and go through dress code and what all I had to bring on my first day.

They asked questions about prior retail experience, for an example of a sales pitch, an example of conflict resolution, and how I would deal with a returning Problem Customer that tries to trick new people into selling him fish. I was also asked some questions about animal care experience.
The interview was about 30 minutes long. I was asked about prior work experience and they got back to me very quickly after calling my references. Interview asked standard questions.
