I was contacted for a phone interview a month after I applied online. I had a phone interview with someone in HR. The interview was pretty standard, describe work duties, expected salary, etc. After a week went by, I contacted them for a status update since I have not heard anything. I was told that they would be scheduling in-person interviews shortly. I did not hear anything after that. A month later, I received an email that the position was filled. If they do not want to pursue a candidate's application further, they should just let the person know rather than string them along. I have to agree with a previous post, they lead you to believe that you are a candidate for the position.
