I was interviewed by one department. The Search Chair who was an un-tenured faculty member, was responsible for all negotiations. Many lies were told to me, and in the end, promises were not upheld. Get everything in writing!! EVERYTHING!! The department head was essentially uninvolved, and allows other faculty (at my same hiring level) to run the department.
