After applying to the role, I had a phone screen with the recruiter. He was a few minutes late and the call went well over the allotted time. Fortunately, he was very pleasant and personable. I thought the interview went well and I genuinely enjoyed speaking with him. My next call was with the hiring manager and while he was nice, the interview felt robotic and mechanical. The call was also supposed to be a video call, but poor planning forced the hiring manager to conduct the interview over the phone. After the interview, I was told I would hear back by the end of the week, but I never did. The issue here is that for a role as critical as this one, I expect communication to be sharper and timely. I assumed I didn't progress to the next round. It still would've been nice if either the recruiter or the hiring manager had the common courtesy to let me know. I'm becoming extremely tired of recruiters and hiring managers having all of the expectations for the "perfect" candidate, but can't commit themselves to maintaining communication with candidates.
