      Financial Representative Interview

      Nov 30, 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Atlanta, GA
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Primerica (Atlanta, GA) in Oct 2014

      Interview

First, unless you get the most honest sales person in the world you are tricked into thinking you are going in for a real interview. However, the person you are interviewing with is actually trying to assess whether or not you would be able to make him or her money. The company is structured like a pyramid, so for every person you get to work for Primerica, you will get a percentage of whatever commissions they make. If that person decides they think you will make them money then they will hype up the job and how much money you can make. Then, they will say that since they believe you are the perfect fit for the job they will say you are hired right then and there. Most people that are looking for a job that come across "A hiring manager" who wants to hire you on the spot will get you very excited, especially if you've been looking for one for a while. However, then they hit you with the "expedited background check". They tell you that rather than waiting a couple weeks for the background check to come back if you pay $100 right then and there you can get started right away. Now, that $100 is actually going to an expedited background check, but it makes the company money by using that service and it keeps up the high pressure/ time sensitive sales scenario that you were unaware you are were in. If your background check comes back clean then the person goes on to explain in order to get licensed to sell the financial products and services you also have to pay $30 on the spot to get access to their online training program (which is $30 per month). So, if you were unaware that you weren't actually on an interview, but a sales appointment, and desperate for a job, $130 doesn't seem like much at the time. Unfortunately, because you are being sold to they don't leave you much time to really think about these red flags. After they get you all signed up and have your money they go on to explain you have to bring in at least three potential clients for the person who "hired" you. Then, while you are supposed to be studying to obtain the financial regulatory licenses to sell financial services to clients. They tell you that you have to find your clientele from scratch (unless you guilt your family and friends into switching their finances and insurance to Primerica and then pressure them to give you a minimum of three other people that you can then go try to sell yourself and Financial services to. However, if you don't have or don't want to guilt your family and friends then you essentially have to go door-to-door or Cold call strangers without any leads provided by Primerica. Let me stress, Primerica is a very good company with great products and services, but the way they get their people to sell their Products and services for them is very underhanded and shady. To sum up, if you get "hired" you start out $130 in the hole, and then get hassled daily by the person who "hired" you to get them leads.

The interview process is more like a "get to know you session" to decide if you would be a good candidate to work with. The interview itself is very easy-going and not as stressful as other interviews I've been on.
