      Strategic Account Executive Interview

      Jan 29, 2024
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Procore Technologies in Jan 2024

      Interview

30 min screen with the recruiter, 30 min screen with the hiring manager, 30 min screen with VP, then functions, Head of CSM or SCs, lastly local interview with Head of Sales

      Interview questions [2]

      Question 1

None really. There was no agenda, just talk and ask questions. It was a personality/feeling test, there were no skill or technical questions, it was purely a like/don't like type of process as far as I could see.

      Question 2

The process was weird. I applied and got a link to select a date for a call (pre-Christmas). Nobody showed and I contacted them to reschedule. Next day I got an automated message saying thank you but no thank you, even if I had agreed a date in January. I showed to the Jan date because the recruiter did not respond if the interview was still on, and he did turn up this time. Basic questions, and moved me forward. The first call with Chuck was fine, good rapport and he wanted to know more about me, but insisted a lot on the availability to travel. The next step was to have a similar call with the hiring manager late on a Friday since he was West coast. I did most of the questions, he only really asked a question about how I do things at the end when he was obviously in a hurry to get to another call, so it didn't end naturally, and was frustratring. From there I sent a couple of follow ups and got zero feedback from recruitment. I reached out to the hiring manager and then finally got something back that they were still interested but hadn't had feedback yet after a week; keeping in mind this was a 30 min call, it shouldn't have been so hard, but apparently they had kick off. The question for me is, what sort of feedback can someone give after a week and kick off? In any case, it ended there with a thank you note, but that they weren't going to continue. The one thing the note said which was weird is that they were impressed with my skills, yet nothing was done to measure them, so hard to believe. Very badly driven, bad communication with the candidate and it felt dishonest.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Procore Technologies (Austin, TX)

      Interview

After reading the Glassdoor interview reviews about how recruiters will try to place you into a different role than what your apply for, I applied for the Account Executive, Strategic position and was contacted within a few hours of the application. Set up an initial phone screen with a recruiter who seemed to not listen to a word I was saying . I gave her my background and told her what kind of numbers I did with my previous company over the last 18 months. Literally two minutes after I told her what my quota / revenue numbers were she asked me again. Maybe she was too busy playing Candy Crush to pay attention. Then I was told after giving her examples of companies that I worked for that she had an opening for a different job title. Unbelievable. She totally did exactly what all of the other interview posts said she would do.
