I was rejected for a live interview after studying for four days and answering all of the questions in STAR FORMAT. I watched all of the Madeline Mann videos as well. Even had sticky noted behind my computer to help me. Please keep in mind this is a trainee position…i already have experience in the insurance industry for almost two years and customer service experience for over a year as well. After I receiving feedback on why I wasn’t selected taking all of this into consideration I’m convinced that this is a numbers game and not a hiring process that really takes into consideration who is actually applying for the role… “Thanks for reaching out. These decisions are never easy and please keep in mind that our roles at Progressive have very competitive candidate pools. Here is some background on why we decided not to move you forward. We would like to see stronger and more complex examples around your professional experience that would help show how you would be successful in this role. As you know, we use Targeted Selection (behavioral-based questions) in our interview process. We're looking for answers that have a thorough beginning, middle and end. “ Really? Rejected because I didn’t give “strong enough” examples although I literally answered the exact way they wanted..i call BS on this feedback. So essentially they care so much about this “storytelling” nonsense that they are rejecting well qualified candidates because i can easily create so many fake stories just because i want to appeal to a company for a job. It’s dumb. I don’t recommend wasting your time on this process unless you are really in love with progressive for whatever reason. Trust me i can take constructive criticism but this decision didn’t make sense to me.
