I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Progressive Insurance (West Palm Beach, FL) in Jul 2023
Interview
I wanted to leave a review for others.. I have worked for Progressive in the past (2 successful interviews) and recently reapplied after a 2 year break to the Claims Adjuster Trainee role. Direct relatable experience is not necessary to get into the company - but a good understanding of the job and company is! As many others will share - the company is amazing to work for but the interview process and claims department is challenging and competitive. A lot of interview prep is helpful. In order to stand out, you should spend a lot of time preparing situation stories in the STAR format that cover the skills needed for this position. Review job posting and even if you do not have insurance experience - highlight how the skills are transferable and the knowledge you have of the position. The stories I prepared highlighted - Ability to multi-task, Making independent decisions, ability to negotiate, ability to be adaptable and learn something new. Progressive is known to ask questions with negative connotation - name a time a customers complaint was directed at you- what did you learn from the situation. They want to see that you own up to mistakes and how that changed your behavior in the future. You should not use examples that would make the interviewer question your integrity… or ability to work in a stressful high paced role. I felt very prepared by reading through other reviews and questions that are asked in the virtual interview and Skype interview … many of the questions are the same or will be similar. My piece of advice: do not focus on memorizing answers word for word. This may cause panic or fumbling of words if the question does not exactly fit. Be confident. Be yourself. Show genuine interest in the role. Virtual interview tips: smile, use Glassdoor questions to prepare, don’t overthink answers and ramble on and on. Simple short answers. The result does not need to be anything grand. Just something you learned or a positive that came out of the situation. After virtual interview, I met with a tenured hiring manager about a week later. Very relaxed and comfortable. Received an offer same day.
