I applied online and was invited for an interview over Skype. The questions were half generic interview questions about who you are (3 strongest traits, 2 weaknesses), but also a number of hypotheticals that were more difficult to answer. For example, how would you feel defending a child rapist, how would you convince a stubborn old woman to give a witness statement to you, how would you deal with a situation where you need to interview a witness who lives in a flat but his buzzer doesn't work so you cant get in?

Your client is accused of raping a 10-year-old, one day he confides in you that he did it but wants to plead innocent because he doesn't want to go to jail - what do you do? Another time, he informs you that the boy he raped is badly behaved in school and known to be a liar by his teachers and peers - what do you do? One of the teachers tells you that the boy made a similar rape accusation before that was found to be 100% false - what do you do with this information? You get the teacher he accused previously to speak in court, the jury finds it very convincing and find your client innocent. They specifically say that the work you did convinced them that the boy was lying - how do you feel?
