I submitted an application online and within a few days received an email to arrange an initial screening phone call. The phone call was with someone in the same type of role and it was very conversational. We talked about the requirements of the role, my interest and my skills & qualifications. It was a very positive discussion and at the conclusion I was told the next step would be a more formal interview with standard questions to better be able to compare candidates and that someone, likely from HR, would reach out to set this up. After about 3 weeks of hearing nothing, I sent a follow up email to the person I had spoken with asking for an update. I never received response but in the RBC career site, it showed my application status as “Interview”. After a month of still not hearing anything, I logged into the career site to see the status of the application had been changed to inactive and a message saying that I had not been selected as a finalist. It seems that RBC Trust do not follow up with candidates as they say they will and just “ghost” you without offering a courtesy of a reply even when they tell you they will follow up with you.
