The interview overall was sketchy. Almost 1 month after pre screening, the hiring manager emailed me for a 30 minutes interview, more focused on behavioural questions. After that, he set up “so-called” technical interview, in which we discussed about Python code review, Ansible code review, bash command lines and something else. What I didn’t make sense of is that how Python and Ansible coding reviews can be used to test an SRE? We apply codes to automate. Should we discuss the methods to automate or script using Python? One last thing I’d like to mention is that the interview claimed to get back to me with outcome, but he never did. This experience made sure I wouldn’t ever apply a job with RBC. The lack of professionalism and sketchy interview process stunned me. Be mindful about RBC interview for SRE. I doubt their intention with these interviews. Perhaps they need to meet a quota to interview some folks. Don’t be victimized by them!
