I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Rakuten in Jul 2014
Interview
Received an email to schedule a phone interview, promptly responded with available times and did not receive confirmation until hours before the phone interview. Few days later scheduled an in person interview. Upon arrival I waited outside in the rain while they came down 4 floors to let me into the building. I first Interviewed with an HR personnel from Rakuten head quarters in Tokyo; she repeatedly told me that there will be a cultural challenge and that Japanese culture is very much "workaholic" which is expected of the workers in Boston. I then interviewed with the direct manager and the person I phone interviewed with. Interview was okay, they seemed nice and asked typical questions. At the end of the interview I was told they would be in touch within a week. It's been two weeks and I still have yet to hear a response. How hard is it to send a courtesy email to say that I didn't get the job?....

Interview
The process started with a quick phone screen. Then a week later an in person interview with the manager and team. After that, another phone interview with the head of people. I have to say, this was one of the more enjoyable and seamless recruiting processes I have ever been a candidate for. Sarah (recruiter) was absolutely wonderful and kept me updated throughout the entire process!
