      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Repsol (Houston, TX) in Oct 2021

      Interview

I was interviewed by the Head Trader for Repsol in Madrid since the position would report directly to Madrid. The interview was one hour long during which market/trading related questions were asked. I explained trading of different commodities, not limited to O&G. I answered questions related to equities, commodities, derivatives trading. For a seasoned Risk/Trading professional I found the interview to be easy. For someone with limited experience the interview may be considered difficult. There were no questions on working well with teams etc etc. The Head Trader knew what he was looking for and cut to the chase and used every minute of the interview to evaluate skills than make small talk. My main reason for getting the job was not because I answered all the questions correctly but because I was able to explain how Sugar is traded on the Global Markets while we were making small talk towards end of the interview.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

On a global scale- Explain the current state of O&G markets along with outlook. Explain Precious Metals trading. Explain FX trading. Explain blended products or underlying products trading. Explain Muni trading. Explain European, Asian, South American, North American markets and outlook. Extra Credit- Explain Sugar, Cocoa, and Coffee trading
