My previous company was transferring our entire team without our consent to this small business company RMC. It's not like I had a choice but I gave them a chance, after hearing from current employees that benefits, PTO and pay were a joke. Even after hearing this, I really liked my job, commute, and the government customer I supported. So I decided to attend the interview they requested for all members of our Cyber team.
We met at Panera Bread in La Plata Maryland. They requested for me to leave the job site and didn't even buy my lunch, can you believe that?
The interview consisted of two people, RMC's VP and some other guy, I can't even remember his name. RMCs Vice President demanded pay stubs in the interview. I really didn't feel Engility employees should just provide them to RMCs HR department. I was very reluctant to provide a pay stub as they were bidding on the contract at the time as Engility's teaming partner and it wasn't RMCs business what I made in terms of salary. By providing that pay stub we had no wiggle room for negotiations with salary. They weren't honest and I told them during the interview, if I'm going to need to take a pay cut tell me now and I will actively pursue and find a new job. I understood business was business but they flat out lied to me about paycuts. After I accepted another job offer they ended up winning the contract a few days later. I was provided a screen shot of an offer letter that a coworker sent me that showed him receiving a 40k paycut in salary for his current position he previously had with the team. I had already given RMCs VP an ultimatum if we don't work out numbers by a certain date, I would leave and accept an offer elsewhere, so I did just that.
