Lot of steps in Revolut's hiring process-- there were at least 5 that were conveyed to me, and I had made it to 4 of them (could be more for all I know). At any rate here is a synopsis of what I experienced. Initially I spoke with a recruiter after posting, for about 20 minutes -- nothing to really note here-- a basic walk through of your resume and to be honest I think they really wanted to tell you their side and next steps. Next was a timed aptitude test that required a 90% passing score (think there were 40 or so questions in 20 minutes). After that there was team fit interview with your direct report manager/supervisor -- which went fine-- manager was direct and transparent which I appreciated. However, seemed to be mentally exhausted and kind of in it with other stuff during our call that day. 3rd step lasted 30 minutes and I cleared past that step on to the next. So next you have 15 min prep call with the initial recruiter for the 4th step -- which is a problem-solving interview. The prep call gave some insight and a link to materials to use to familiarize yourself with what to expect format wise--but you have no idea what kind of question you are going to get. So, few days later 4th interview. My interviewer gave me a business problem straight from Revolut's past supposedly --I had to come up with a solution for doubling usage and therefore sales of a cash app product in 12 months. You get 20 minutes to ask questions of the interviewer and come up with a possible strategy and then present it. I prepared well for the discovery phase, and I got a lot of the information during the fact-finding portion, but time was running down. So, when it came to thinking aloud and hypothesizing-- I was dissuaded from pursuing one particular avenue (which the interviewer can do to 'help') as it was beyond the scope of the 12 months for a viable solution -- however that solution was surprisingly given at the end as 1 of the 3 (kind of messed up but it is what it is). So, as it turned out there were 3 solutions that could pass, and I got one of them and was told as such and I was halfway to the another but as I stated earlier was led away from that conclusion. In fairness I missed the 3rd but I felt like OK, I am not consultant, and I am not in sales so for a compliance manager I held my own --but alas day later I got the rejection email. Not sure what to think to be honest -- there was no criteria given that you had to get all 3 and in fact the interviewer stated that there were more than 1 possible answer to the problem -- so I guess you will need to get more than 1.5 for this phase to make it to 5th step? For what it may be worth to anyone reading this you need to treat the 4th interview like you are a candidate for consultants' role regardless of actual experience OR the role that you are seeking. Be mindful of time and endeavor to arrive at least 2 maybe even 3 possible solutions and present with data to support your analysis and you may very well get a 5th interview. All in all, I sort of appreciated the experience despite the negative outcome, I think that Revolut may be caught in their own feedback loop-- where they want to put candidates through an exhaustive screening process because that is what they think gets the best talent-- but when you are looking for regulatory experience and subject matter expertise to build a viable robo BD and advisory platform and to assist protecting the same as well as crossing swords with regulators -- perhaps staying on mission would be wiser -- I wish them luck.
